Biography
Min Zhong earned her PhD in marine invertebrate evolution in 2009. She has taught the Introductory Biology I and II, Marine Biology, Evolutionary Biology, and pedagogical training classes for peer instructional models. Her expertise is in the implementation and assessment of evidence-based practices in STEM classrooms and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). She has experience in developing and overseeing the Learning Assistant Program, and leading innovative curriculum transformation via developing multiple CUREs (Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience) in General Biology lab at her previous institution. In addition to teaching, she serves as a Faculty Associate in STEMx and is committed to building a scholarship community in CNS. Beyond her primary roles, she is currently serving as a guest editor for a peer-reviewed teaching-and-learning journal - Transformative Dialogues. This professional role supports her interest in advancing STEM education from the practitioner’s perspective by connecting the classroom instructional practices to scholarly inquiry. She is also a leader for Teaching-Focused Faculty in Biology Education Special Interest Group (TFF-SIG) for the Society for the Advancement of Biology Education Research (SABER). Previously, she served as an Interest Group leader and member of the Advocacy Committee for the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) and as a Faculty Mentor in the QUBES Faculty Mentoring Network.
